Writer, Editor, wearer of many hats

Matt O’Connor

Hey, I’m Matt. I’ve spent my professional life growing my skills as a writer. I also do some cool stuff on the side.

By day

Copywriter, content writer, copyeditor, and ad scriptwriter with 10+ years of in-house and freelance experience.

Digital audio editor with experience editing radio pieces, VO recordings, and music.

By night

Owner, publicist, and curator of independent record label, Worry Bead Records.

Songwriter, guitarist, manager, and booking agent for my band, Tuxis Giant.

Video Scripts

At Zipcar, I was our go-to scriptwriter, VO director, and digital audio editor for CTV ads and paid media campaigns.

I generated concepts, wrote scripts, pitched stakeholders, hired VO talent, directed VO recording sessions, and edited audio.

I loved seeing these projects grow from basic ideas to polished products. Here are some of my favorites:

Every content piece—from magazine placements to social posts and case studies—is an important part of the brand ecosystem.

Here are some snippets of storytelling pulled from my time at Zipcar and Wayfair.

When I’m not working my 9-5, I run an independent record label with my partner. I function as the label’s in-house A&R agent, publicist, and primary curator.

We work with a small-but-mighty roster of artists from around the DIY music scene. Our goal is to help each of our artists share their work and expand their audience.

Our first release was a charity compilation—titled True Names—featuring unreleased recordings from artists like Squirrel Flower, 22º Halo, and Remember Sports,.

The comp raised over $1500 for the Trans Youth Emergency Project, and garnered praise from Stereogum, Treblezine, FLOOD Magazine, and more.

I also authored an editorial piece about the comp for Atwood Magazine.
